Margaret GLEESON was a daughter of James GLEESON & Ellen HERBERT
Margaret GLEESON was born in Garyyard, Silvermines, County Tipperary, Ireland.
Margaret was baptized on 27 June 1882 at the Silvermines Parish. Margaret's sponsors were Mary RYAN & William GLEESON.
On 9 April 1903 Margaret arrived at Ellis Island from Ireland. Margaret
was heading to her sister Mary's residence in Troy, New York.
Mary later returned to Ireland and passed away in Ireland. Mary never
married.
Margaret may have been the first one of the siblings to travel to San Francisco, as Margaret was living at 31 Commonwealth Avenue, San Francisco, California as of her sister Ellen's arrival at Ellis Island on April 23, 1908.
Margaret and Frank must have married around 1913, given the info in the 1930 census.
From the 1920 census we know Frank Hanna arrived in the USA in 1907 and became a naturalized citizen in 1914.
Frank was living at 659 Moscow Street, in San Francisco. His brother-in-law,
James Gleeson, was also living in his home.
Frank Hanna is listed as married & owning his home, and he was a carpenter.
Strangely, Margaret in not listed.
As of the 1930 census, Frank and Margaret are living at 650 Vienna Street,
they own their residence. The value of the home is listed as $4,500.
Frank is listed as 44, age at first marriage is 27, born in Northern Ireland,
as were both his parents. He entered the USA in 1907 and is a carpenter.
Margaret is listed as 42, age at first marriage is 25, born in Southern Ireland,
as were both her parents. She entered the USA in 1905.
The is no Margaret Gleeson entering the USA through Ellis Island in 1905,
and we know for certain she entered in 1908, so the 1905 date must be in
error.
