M. Cecelia McElearney
On Monday, May 19th, as she was surrounded by her loving family, our mother left this world peacefully to join her beloved late husband, James J. McElearney (SFFD). A native San Franciscan, Cecelia was the third daughter born to Bridget and Daniel Sullivan. She is survived by her four children, Judy, Dave (Hanan), Joan (John) and Sharon, as well as 12 cherished grandchildren: Jeff (Miranda), Scott and Alyssa Nobriga; Cecelia, Seamus and Bridget McElearney; Katie, Kevin, and James Walsh; Courtney, Shelby and Amy Rider. Cecelia is also survived by her sister, Helen Whelan, as well as several nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Abina Sullivan, sister-in-law, Mary Froom, and brothers-in-law, Raymond Whelan and Robert Froom, as well as much loved nephews, Michael Whelan and Geoff Froom. Ceil attended St. Paul's High School and College of Notre Dame. She was an active parishioner of Holy Name, Our Lady of Angels and St. James Parishes. She was a PTA Mom and room mother for all of her children. She was a member of the auxiliary of Peninsula Hospital and the best fan of her grandchildren's sporting, academic and theatre events. Friends and family may visit Thursday from 4 to 9 pm and are invited to attend the Vigil Service at 6:15 pm at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 11 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, at 39th and Lawton, SF. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
