Martin GLEESON and Mary GLEESON
Martin GLEESON and Mary GLEESON lived in Capparoe Townland, Tipperary in the 1840's.
Martin and Mary had the following known children:
Mary GLEESON, born 1844
Martin GLEESON born 1846
In 1846, Martin GLEESON & Mary GLEESON were the sponsors for the baptism of James GLEESON, the son of James GLEESON & Mary GLEESON.
There must be a family relationship
between these two couples. Could one of the Mary GLEESONS be a sister
to either of the husbands? Possibly it is more distant and they are cousins.
We have the paternal DNA available on
the James GLEESON family, but we are not sure about the family
connections for Martin or either Mary GLEESON.
From the Book of County Tipperary
written in 1889 by George Henry Bassett we learn that Capparoe was" a
road-side post office, in the parish of Kilmore, barony of Upper
Ormond, 3 miles, Irish, south by west from Nenagh. The land of the
neighborhood is fair for pasture and tillage." The Post Master is John
Borden. There are 7 families, with the two Gleeson families being
"GLEESON, D., Lisheenaclounta" and "GLEESON, Patrick, Carrow."
