Susan L. HOBKIRK CUSHMAN
Madrid—Susan L. Cushman, 66 of 1226
County Rt. 31, Lisbon died Thursday afternoon (February 20, 2013) at
Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Family and friends are
invited to call Saturday evening from 6 to 8 pm, (February 23, 2013) at
the Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid. Funeral services for Susan will be
held Sunday (February 24, 2013) at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with
Rev. Phil Jaycox officiating. Interment will be in Madrid Cemetery in
the spring. Following the funeral services everyone is invited to the
ScotchPresbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Chipman for fellowship and
refreshments. Surviving Susan is her beloved sons Michael and wife
Kristine Cushman of Watertown and Mark Cushman of Lisbon, her
grandchildren, Kyle, Zachary and Dylan Cushman, Gabrelle Sanders and
Ashley Carr, also six great grandchildren. Susan is survived by her two
brothers John Hobkirk of Lisbon NY; and Robert Hobkirk of Oneonta NY;
along with several nieces and nephews. Susan was born in Ogdensburg on
September 23, 1946 the daughter of Bernard and Leah (North) Hobkirk.
She graduated with an Associate degree from SUNY at Canton and
Bachelors from SUNY Potsdam. Susan was a secretary for Tenant Electric
in Potsdam for several years until entering the US Air Force in Tucson,
AZ. Following her honorable discharge at Eglin Air Force Base FL, Susan
was employed by the Canton-Potsdam Hospital as executive secretary for
the administrative office. She retired from the Canton Housing
Authority as Director of Enriched Housing. She was a long time member
of the Christian Fellowship Center and also a member of the Canton
