James Martin HOPKIRK & Teresa Mary SHANAHAN
James Martin (Jim) HOPKIRK was the second son of John Joseph HOPKIRK & Celia Mary FORD
Jim was born 24 Jun 1929 at Makahu.
Jim grew up at the family farm at Makahu, Taranaki. Go to his parents page, linked above, to see photos of Jim around the farm..
On 18 January 1958 Jim married Teresa Mary (Molly) SHANAHAN
Jim and Molly raised their four
children on the family farm, on the old family homestead, in a house
Jim built near his parents home.
Some years after Jim's parents passed away, Jim had to take down the old family home, as it had fallen into disrepair.
Jim built a wonderful garden around
his property which included a waterfall. A portion of the garden was
built around the remains of the chimney from the old family homestead.

Jim passed away on 27 July 2015 in Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand
Here is Jim's Obituary published in the Taranaki Daily News:
"HOPKIRK,
James Martin (Jim) Peacefully at Elizabeth R. Home Stratford on Monday
27 July 2015. Beloved husband of the late Molly. Adored father and
father-in-law of Mike and Shonagh, Christine and John Steiner, Brenda
and Gerard McCarthy, and Gloria and Keith Pascov. Treasured Jimbie of
Jamie and Jason, Kait and Seb, Ben and Molly, Cormac, Finbarr,
Dairmaid, and Niamh. Loved brother of the late John, Don, Mary, and the
late Eb. A wonderful uncle to all his nieces and nephews. A sincere
thnak you to all staff at Elizabeth R Rest Home for your kindness and
care of our Jimbie. All messages to the HOPKIRK Family c/- Eagers
Funeral Services PO Box 75 Stratford 4352 Requiem Mass for Jim will be
celebrated at the Catholic Church of Immaculate Conception, Miranda
Street, Stratford on Saturday 1st August at 1:00pm. There after a
private cremation will be held. R.I.P.
