Kenneth Robert HOPKIRK

(Our thanks goes to Robert Hopkirk for supplying most of the information on this page.)

Kenneth Robert HOPKIRK was a son of George Howard HOPKIRK and Mary Phemister KIRKMAN

Kenneth was born on 10 June 1893 at Custom House, Victoria Docks, West Ham, Essex, England.

Kenneth Robert HOPKIRK attended Cambridge University, as did his brother Frank and Kenneth Robert's three sons. They all belonged to Emmanuel College.

Kenneth Robert HOPKIRK worked for the British-Thomson-Houston Company(BTH) in Rugby, Warwickshire. When Robert Kenneth Hopkirk passed away, he was  a member of the board of directors and a Chief Mechanical Engineer.  He sent two of his 3 sons to Rugby School, one of the famous British "public schools"  (i.e. Private boarding schools set up mostly during the 18th and 19th centuries to provide schooling for the well-paid servants of the Empire).  Because they lived in the same town as the school, his two sons spent 5 or 6 years there(aged 12 to 18)  as "day-boys", meaning they lived at home, not in the boarding school.

In the 3rd quarter of 1919, Kenneth married Kathleen "Kitty" DEWAR in West Ham, Essex, England.

Kenneth and Kitty had two children:

Kenneth Dewar HOPKIRK, born in 1920. Kenneth passed away in 2001. In the 3rd quarter of 1946, in Rugby, Warwickshire, Kenneth Dewar Hopkirk married May R. Sudbury. Kenneth and Mary had two sons, both of whom attended Cambridge University, as did their half-brother from the marriage of Kenneth Robert Hopkirk and Francis Eveline COX below.

Kathleen Margaret HOPKIRK, was born in 1925. In the 3rd quarter of 1947 she married John M Watson at Rugby, Warwickshire. Kathleen passed away 5 January 2010.

Kathleen "Kitty" DEWAR HOPKIRK passed away in the 1st quarter of 1932.

In the 2nd quarter of 1937 Kenneth Robert HOPKIRK married Frances Eveline COX. They had 3 children, all of whom are still living.

Kenneth Robert Hopkirk passed away on 24 April, 1959. He was of Waratah 38 Regent Place, Rugby. His widow is listed as Frances Eveline Hopkirk.
