Additional info: James Hopkirk CRAIG came to Canada, around 1870, with a young family. James had become a weaver and accompanied his father-in-law, Archibald BOYD, and the Boyd family. James came down to Lonsdale every winter to weave for cash money to bring back to Canada. The last year before the families of Boyd and Craig came to the US, Margaret, the eldest daughter of James and Margaret, accompanied her father on his winter sojourn. In 1881, the entire family Boyds and Craigs moved to the US. Grandma Jessie Wade could remember that the public buildings were draped in black. This was for James Garfield, who had been shot on July 2, 1881, and died September 19, 1881. The Craigs and Boyds lived in several Rhode Island mill towns, ie. Cumberland, Lonsdale, Central Falls.
