Wilfred James WADE & Lemyra ELLIS

Wilfred James WADE was the eldest child and only son of Jessie Boyd CRAIG & Frederick Albert WADE, born 24 August 1893 at Wauregan, CT.

Wilfred lost his right hand in an accident while working in a mill during the summer. After a prolonged period of recuperation during which time he learned to write again with his left hand, he attended a business college in New London, Ct.

Wilfred James WADE married Lemyra ELLIS of Putnam, Ct.

Lemyra ELLIS was born 7 May 1891 in Wauregan, Ct., the daughter of Edward ELLIS and Julia Etta ROPER.

From a World War I registration card, Wilfred James Wade was 23, living at 128 South Main, Putnam, Ct. and married, with a missing right hand. 

Wilfred and Lemyra adopted two children, both of whom are still living.

From an April 27, 1942 Military Registrar's Report, Wilfred was 5' 7" tall, weighed 186 pounds, white, blue eyes, gray hair, ruddy complexion, with right hand amputated at the wrist.

Wilfred James WADE was a Superintendent of Acme Cotton Products in East Killingly at the time of his death in June 1943.
Wilfred is buried in the Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam, Ct.

Lemyra Ellis WADE passed away in June 1983.
