As of the 1841 census, Christian HOBKIRK was 15 years old and living with her parents.
As of the 1851 census, it is probably this Christian HOBKIRK listed as 27 years old, a servant in a farmer's house, in Jedburgh.
Christian HOBKIRK married John HAMMOND on 14 September 1854 at Edgbaston,
Warwickshire at the parish church(Edgbaston is a suburb of Birmingham
today)
The marriage certificate lists Christian Hobkirk's father as A. Hobkirk,
grocer, and Martha HOBKIRK as a witness.(Probably Christian's sister)
By 1854 John Hammond's occupation is a gardener.
Christian and John had the following known children:
Elizabeth HAMMOND, born about 1855, Warwickshire
Mary HAMMOND, born about 1858, Warwickshire
Martha HAMMOND, born 8 June 1859, possibly Liverpool, Lancs.
Andrew HAMMOND, born about 1864, Sefton, Lancs
Archibald HAMMOND, born about 1867, Sefton, Lancs
Additional note: in the 1851 census there is a Martha HOBKIRK, 16, sister in law of George MILLER and Jane MILLER, age 22.
