Adam HOBKIRK & Isabella AITKEN

Just like the other two families from Peebles, this family also used mulitple spellings of the family name. We have found Hopkirk and Hobkirk, but not Habkirk.
The HOPKIRK Family of Peebles & the Hobkirk Family from Peebles, Peebleshire #1 Also, look carefully at the birth records of their children, the father's last name is spelled both Hopkirk and Hobkirk, while the mother's first name is spelled Isabella, Isabel, and Isobel and her last name is spelled Aitken and Aiken.

From the 3 census records of 1841, 1851 and 1861 Adam HOBKIRK was born in Traquair, Peeblesshire in either 1806, 1807 or 1804. The only Adam born around that time was the Adam HOBKIRK christened 16 October 1804 in Traquair, Peeblesshire, son of Adam HOBKIRK. There was no mother listed on the christening record.
Isabella was born about 1801.

     Robina HOPKIRK, christened 18 May 1834, Stow, Midlothian, Scotland (The record lists her parents as Adam Hopkirk and Isobel AIKEN) She may have married David Blythe.

Adam is 57, a Cowfeeder, and Isabella is 50. (She got 10 years younger, maybe a recording error)
