Around 1911 Sarah left Ireland and travelled to San Francisco, California where her sisters Margaret and Ellen were located.
In 1919 Sarah GLEESON married Francis (Frank) Floyd.
From the 1920 census Sarah and Frank FLOYD were living at 337 Richland
Ave. in San Francisco.
Frank J. FLOYD is listed as age 33, born in California, and his parents born
in Ireland. They rent and he is a Chauffuer. (He drove a Taxi cab).
Sarah A. FLOYD is listed as age 28, entering the USA in 1911, born in
Ireland and parents born in Ireland. A naturilized citizen in 1919.
(Her daughter says she became a citizen when she married)
Also in the residence is Frank's sister Mary, age 29, single, a helper at
a glove works.
The family lived at 1662 Fulton Street, San Francisco from 1924 to the summer of 1941.
They lived on Stanyon Street in San Francisco from 1941 to 1949.
Around 1949 they moved to Isabelle Street, in San Mateo, near Serra High School.

Francisco and died of polio or the flu on 16 June 1953)

Per California death records, Sarah A. Floyd passed away on 15 April 1961 in San Mateo, California. Her mother's maiden name was Herbert and she was born in Ireland on 6 December 1887.

The family found out about Jimmy's death just before Mother's Day in 1945. They were going to present Sarah with a nice mother's day gift, but when the news came about Jimmy, they did not think it was appropriate.
