Robert moved to Queensland, Australia in 1911.

Margaret BALLANTYNE was born 28 April 1891 in Currievale, Currie, Scotland
to David BALLANTYNE, a ploughman, and Grace IRELAND.
Margaret BALLANTYNE was christened 7 June 1891 in Currie.

Robert HOPKIRK passed away on 20 February 1952 at age 66, from carcinoma of right lung and missle lobe, secondaries in sternum aorta adrenals and left lung. Robert was buried 22 February 1952 at Lutwyche Cemetery, Brisbane.
When Robert first arrived in Australia, he had a job in the cane fields
as a cane cutter.
He is second from the right in the middle row, holding a cane top.

You may notice that the family lived at 76 Maud and Cartwright
Streets. It is the same street. The street was renamed in honor of the
Victoria Cross recipient George Cartwright.
