Charles was born 26 September 1803 and christened 4 March 1804 at All Saints, Newcastle
Charles C. P. HOBKIRK married Marther CHRISTER at St. John's, Newcastle on 28 January 1827.
(Charles brother also married a woman with the last name of CHRISTER. Are they sisters?)
Charles and Martha had the following known children:
Charles Codrington Prissick HOBKIRK, born about 1828, Newcastle and probably his twin
Benjamin HOBKIRK, born about 1828 in Newcastle. Benjamin died in 1850.
William HOBKIRK, born about 1830.
James C. HOBKIRK, born about 1833, at Wallsend
John HOBKIRK, born about 1835, at Wallsend
M. H. HOBKIRK(daughter), born about 1838, at Wallsend
Hannah HOBKIRK, born about 1840, at Wallsend
Isaac HOBKIRK, born about 1842, at Wallsend
From the 1841 census, Charles, Sr., is not listed. The following are listed: Martha, Charles age 13, William age 11, Benjamin age 13, James age 8, John age 6, Martha age 3, and Hannah age 1.
From the 1851 census, Charles CP is listed as 47 years old, a travelling salesman staying in Berwick. His wife Martha is listed as 45, wife of travelling salesman and the family was residing at 39 Villa Place, Newcastle. Also residing there were James C. age 18, John age 16, MH age 13, Hannah age 11 and Isaac age 9.
From the 1861 census, Charles is living at 12 Hind Street, Elswick, with his new wife Elizabeth, age 42. Also in the residence are his son Isaac age 19 and his stepson Robert Gillender.
